2021 Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair
The AWWA Hawaii Section would like to congratulate the following students for their project entries in the 64th Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair. This year, the AWWA Hawaii Section sponsored two $250 awards (one female winner and one male winner) and two $200 awards (one female winner and one male winner). Although all the projects were fascinating, these four stood out for their contribution to drinking water and the environment. (Select the links below to view these outstanding projects.)

Kai, senior at Mililani High School, “Using Fruit Remnants as Biofilters for Water Purification”
2nd place:
Jing, Kalani High School, “Bioremediation of contaminated water using Carica papaya seeds”
Makoa, senior at Mililani High School, “Density of native foliage and its relation with stream quality”
